At El Paso Modern Dentistry, we stay on top of the latest dental science and technology advancements. When Invisalign® was first introduced in the 1990s, it primarily treated minor and cosmetic cases of teeth misalignment. Today, it is an appropriate braces alternative for most cosmetic needs as well as severe malocclusion or misalignment of the teeth and jaws. Individuals from across West Texas with various needs have been successfully treated with Invisalign® by our skilled dentist, Dr. Enrique Darancou.
What Should I Choose?
Both conventional braces and Invisalign® are based on similar principles. Consistent and gentle forces are placed on the teeth to incrementally move them through bone. This process, in turn, repositions the teeth and fixes crowding, gaps, and other spacing issues. So, Invisalign® and braces are proven to effectively straighten the teeth and correct bite imbalances, such as:
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite
- Open bite

Of course, as with all treatments and services, we will not know the best path forward in your journey to better oral health and an improved smile until after Dr. Darancou evaluates your mouth. During your consultation, he will non-invasively scan your mouth and create a three-dimensional model of your teeth. Advanced software is used to show you how Invisalign® works throughout treatment. Thanks to this virtual model of your smile and associated animation, you can see the process in action. You can even see the stunning results of the treatment.
Reveal your best, healthiest smile!
While the fundamental principles behind Invisalign® and braces are similar, they differ tremendously in how the forces are generated to move your teeth. Instead of wearing fixed silver-colored brackets and wires, Invisalign® patients “simply slip” oral appliances or aligners over their teeth. These aligners are transparent. So they blend in with the rest of the teeth. They are also precisely custom-fitted and made from a non-toxic, smooth, and flexible advanced plastic for utmost comfort.
These aligners can be removed when eating, brushing, and flossing. This feature makes it easy to keep up with proper oral care and good nutrition throughout treatment. Just be sure to put the aligners back in right away after meals and cleaning your teeth, and the aligner trays themselves.
