Treat damage and rebuild your tooth with a crown in just one visit!

The benefits of modern dentistry with CEREC

True to our name, El Paso Modern Dentistry defies the conventional! Our dentist, Dr. Enrique Darancou, has invested time, talents, and “treasure” in an array of advanced technologies and treatments, all with “you” in mind. From implants to CEREC, our modern services support patient comfort, convenience, affordability, access, satisfaction, and the most positive experience with dentistry at our office in far-western Texas.

CEREC stands for “chairside economical reconstruction of esthetic ceramic.” While this sounds like a mouthful, it simply refers to using tools, such as computer software and other 3D digital capabilities, to prepare, design, fabricate, refine, and secure dental crowns to the teeth … all in one visit!

The trouble with traditional crown-making

A commonplace procedure, dental crowns are most commonly associated with return trips to the dentist’s office. After all, there is the trip to prepare the natural tooth and to remove any damage from it. This provides a strong foundation and a “clean slate” for dental restoration. During this first trip, as much information as possible about the damaged tooth is collected. This information is used to make the crown, which builds up lost tooth structure.

Then, there is the return visit. The temporary crown placed to protect the prepared tooth is removed. The permanent crown is then placed. If all looks and feels great, the permanent will be bonded to the tooth. So, what happens if the bite is “off”? Or the crown doesn’t look, right? Then, it’s back to the outside dental lab! Another wait of around two weeks for the lab ceramists to re-do the crown. Then, you return to the office and hope for the best with the re-made crown.

The modern alternative

El Paso Modern Dentistry has turned this process on its head. With CEREC, we can move all of those outside lab processes in-house. There are considerable advantages to this process. They include:

  • Quality control — Our team is in the driver’s seat. We can assure everything is done correctly and to our high standards and that you are happy and comfortable at every step in the process.
  • No-stress and hassle-free – We have eliminated all of those return trips. Our dentist simply gets your natural tooth ready to “receive” the crown. Then, he uses high-tech scanning to non-invasively collect info about your tooth. No goopy, uncomfortable impressions here! Special software transforms this information into a 3-dimensional model of your mouth. After the crown has been designed virtually, our onsite milling machine crafts it from a block of strong and highly cosmetic ceramic. Lastly, Dr. Darancou bonds the crown to your tooth. No, wait.
  • Avoid human errors – When our team’s talents combine with advanced technology, beautiful things happen. Traditional processes, such as messy manual impression-taking, can result in incorrectly made crowns. CEREC minimizes the risk of ill-fitting crowns and errors by removing many of these manual steps from the equation. Furthermore, if we do need to refine or adjust the crown, that can be completed in just moments – not weeks and a return trip.

We could go on and on about the many benefits of CEREC-assisted crowns. However, we encourage you to experience them for yourself.
